Apple Won.

How on earth did we not know how efficient ARM processors are in comparison with x86. The problem of HEAT, is reset — the Apple M1 disrupts the entire computer industry, and just before that NVIDIA is on target for acquiring ARM.

That’s the single most historic event in 2020 besides the coronavirus. If you thought iPhone changed phones as we know it back then — I cannot even describe the change the M1 and future Apple, or ARM based computers….

x86 is dead.

There is no point in researching or developing x86 computers anymore. The ARM processor actually has headroom to grow. The M1 is faster than ~98%, uses only 30W and has no fan! My 12 core *intel* haswell-e uses what 150–200W, water cooling to keep it stable.

This changes everything, expect Google to probably enter the desktop market to compete. If NVIDIA acquires ARM, it will be the single largest semiconductor company in the world. If Intel and AMD don’t drop x86 and move to ARM or a RISC architecture right now, there gone.

This is not just a disruption,

this is * obsolescence * of a technology — very soon.

So I guess I’ll keep my computer for now, and buy one when the ARM processor rocks on the desktop computer then? Yup, that about sums it up.
